WHAT THE HEART SEES

By
J. Adams

Excerpt from Book

I can't believe this! How in the world could I have done something so stupid?

     Going on a hike in unfamiliar territory hadn't been smart at all, but I have always been one to go against the norm. I've never been a conformist. If I'm told not to do something, everything in me cries out, “I'm going to do it!” Sometimes this way of thinking is good, and sometimes it isn't, especially during times like now.
Blinking tears onto my cheeks, I make another attempt to stand,but the immediate pain shooting up my leg causes me to lose my balance and I fall again, only this time, instead of dropping twenty feet and hearing the snap of my leg as I hit the rock surface, I fall another ten feet, hitting my head. Then everything is dark.

     Vashti is a beautiful 22 year old receptionist at a car dealership whose brother Rob is always trying to set her up with his friends-friends she finds revolting at best.  She is in hopes with this last visit with her brother that he is there to make amends.  Fat chance.  Liam is a huge man who was once a fireman injured in a fire while trying to save another's life.  His family ashamed of his career choice and embarrassed by his injury moves and leaves him behind.  He lives alone deep in the woods hiding.

     Both are looking for love-for someone to fill the emptiness in their hearts and lives.  Will they find it with each other?  Can they learn from their choices and make amends?
     "What the Heart Sees" is a short read that I enjoyed very much.  It, along with a small bag of popcorn and iced lemon water was the perfect ending to a great day.  It truly tells us that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".  that "true beauty comes from within" and that "we should not judge a book by its cover".   That being said, I recommend this book for  young adults and older.  Again J. Adams has written a  romantic novella with a little  intense passion while keeping it wholesome and clean.

EMERINE-FAIRY PRINCE

Emerine's Nightmare
 by
Anna del C. Dye

Excerpt from the book:

In the early dawn, while a dense fog covers the light that should have brightened the new day, I, Emerine, sit at the edge of a quiet pond. Engulfed in the wet blanket of air that threatens to suffocate me, my mind focuses on how everything has changed from just a few days ago.
It’s been two weeks since we left our home nestled at the edge of the forest. Only three days have passed since the tragic death of my father. That was just the beginning of my nightmare…because no matter how hard I think about it, there isn’t a reason the shadows should chase me…except that it’s all a really bad dream. One from which I’ll wake up at any moment.

This is a fantasy for children in the 4th-8th grade.  My 9 year old grandson is in the 4th grade and one of his assignments is to read 20 minutes every day.  We have been reading "Emmerine-Fairy Prince" together.  He really likes it.  The story has shown us how Emmerine has learned about how good versus evil and about the consequences that follow with the different choices that we make.  He also learns about unconditional love.  He learns about what real love between a mother and father is.  One of my favorite passages in this story is:

The light? What can light do, Father?”
“It brings warmth and also dispels the darkness that wants to take over.”

There is a children's song I love that also fits this that I love called "Teach Me to Walk in the Light".  The first verse is

 Teach me to walk in the light of his love;
Teach me to pray to my Father above;
Teach me to know of the things that are right;
Teach me, teach me to walk in the light.

I loved this little book and recommend it to all children.  I would also recommend that parents read this with their children to get the most of the meaning that has been written into this wonderful book.

GUARDIAN OF MY HEART

by
J. Adams

From the Back of the Book
Two people from different worlds searching for one another, are drawn together by a bond stronger than anything in this earthly sphere, and a love powerful enough to move mountains.
Cillian is in danger and Gideon is her true mate. And absolutely nothing will stop him from protecting what is his.

You asked for a sequel to "The Wishing Hour" and here it is.  Jewel asked for a winning line "I will never forget the day I died" for her new book  and here is it.  Two for one.  You can't beat that.
Gideon is from Challis a paradise hidden deep within the core of the earth.  He is living on the surface of the earth and is seeking his soul mate.  She is near.  He senses it.  He has to find her.  She is in danger, but will he find her in time to save her.
<><><><><>

Cillian is human.  She also senses someone close to her.  Her relationship with Matty is a friendship nothing else.  He is in love with her and wants more.  Cillian's best friend Chelise has feelings for Matty, but has kept them hidden.  Cillian must tell Matty how she feels and when she does, all heck breaks loose.  Two strange men appear out of no where, an auto accident occurs, strange scientific experiements.  A must read to see what happens.

A book loaded with everything I love all rolled into one...good clean romance, science fiction, a little spice, some mystery.  I would recommend this book to young adults and up.   Jewel never fails to disappoint her readers from one book to the next.

The Shelter of His Arms

by
J. Adams

From back of book

     Lani and Chrispin have hidden their feelings for one another for years, but when they are finally free to express their love, both are afraid to cross the line that has always been there. Lani's battered heart needs to heal. Will Chrispin's love be strong enough to heal it? And will Lani have the courage to embrace the passion she has longed for now that it is hers for the taking?

     The Shelter of His Arms is the first emotion-driven romance in the Passionate Hearts Novelette series.

     Lani, is finally released from an abusive marriage to Tom after five years when he dies in an airplane crash.  She does not know what real love is and aches with every fiber of her being to find it.  She loves another but cannot tell him.
     Crispin is an older man...a man who had been Tom's best friend.  That is until he found out about the abuse.  He was also in love with Lani but had kept his feelings hidden for years.  He didn't feel Lani could ever love him.

     Once I found some peace and quiet, I really enjoyed reading this novelette.  It was a great short story about two people who had been in love with each other for years, but were afraid to tell each other.  Each had their own reasons, reasons that were keeping them from true happiness.  Would they be able to overcome their inner struggles and finally find each other?

     Once again Jewel has kept her story within moral parameters which I appreciate as a reader who looks for this.  I would recommend this book to young adults and older especially if you like something that is clean romance with just a tad bit of spice.  Well done once again Jewel.
