When she realized this hadn't happened, she never prayed again. She thought God had not heard her prayers. She still continued to go to her friend's house because they were still the most amazing family and the little girl was her best friend and still is today. Years later, she found herself single, pregnant and alone. She was depressed and didn't know what to do. She had recently been to a family reunion and an aunt she had just met, someone she barely knew, pulled her to the side and gave her her phone number telling her that if she ever needed someone to talk about anything to call her. So she took the number and called it, not knowing what she was going to do or say. However, when her aunt answered the phone, she began to cry and poured out her heart. Her aunt told her to pack her bags; she would be there in 6 hours to get her. Six hours because that's how far away she lived. This woman literally dropped everything she was doing to reach out a hand to someone she barely knew. The next day was Sunday and she took her niece to church, immediately sought out the Elders and had them come to her home that evening and begin the discussions. This young woman was baptized and returned home within the year. She later met her husband and they were married and began a family of their own. Last December they were sealed in the temple. Saturday they went to the temple for the second time since they were sealed and she said as she stood in the temple looking at her husband her heart was so filled with love for him and if that love for him was so great here on earth, how much greater and sweeter was that love going to be in the Celestial Kingdom. It was then that she realized that God had heard and answered her prayers…20 years later. She had the family she had always dreamed of having.

Today sitting in Sacrament meeting I listened to the speakers talk on the topic of Eternal/Celestial Families. A young sister spoke about how she was raised in a family where there was never prayer or the mention of God as her father was an atheist. Down the street from her lived a little girl with the most wonderful family. They prayed together, ate together, played together, and had family time together...all the things she wanted her family to do. One day she decided to pray to Heavenly Father and ask Him for a family just like her friend's. She didn't know how to pray, but did the best she could. She woke up the next morning fully expecting to find her family just like her friend's; expecting them to have changed overnight.
